Christmas Traditions

My friend, Martie, has this great list of her family's holiday traditions. It made me think of some of the fun things we do around Christmas time so here is my list.

1. We draw names with my hubby's side of the fam. Just the adults. We're going to try and do that with my side this year.
2. We buy a new pair of pajamas for the girls and they get to open them on Christmas Eve.
3. I collect Christmas snow globes.
4. I LOVE taking turns opening gifts; taking breaks in between gift opening and making Christmas last ALL DAY LONG. My family did this when I was growing up. It probably won't happen like that for us each year...but I'll drag it out as long as I can. :)
5. We listen to a lot of Christmas music! I think Lance even starts humming it as early as October!
6. We usually decorate the weekend after Halloween...because we love Christmas so much and want to enjoy it for an extra month. This is the benefit of having an artificial tree. :) See, our tree is already up!

(Hayley snapped this close up, so I'll share it too!)

7. I collect snowmen Christmas decor too!
8. We totally believe in Santa Claus!!
9. We believe in Jesus Christ and we celebrate His birth and His life.
10. We write Santa letters and put them in our stockings. Us big kids still have to write them and send them to my parents (I mean Santa's helpers). ;)
11. We drive around town on Christmas Eve...or a few days before...and look at all the Christmas lights. In the past I have read a Christmas book while doing this, but I like to look too, so we just crank up the Christmas music and enjoy the sights. Now, the book just comes after the ride. Martie mentioned a book that I want to get this year called, I Believe in Santa Claus by Diane G. Adamson...Sounds wonderful.

What do you do? Please share what fun things you do during the holidays in the comments!

I love taking turns on gifts too! I wish my family would agree with it.......everything is usually opened in a matter of 5 minutes!

Love hearing about your traditions, I also collect snowmen and I collect ornaments any time we go on a trip. Our big tradition is the weekend after Thanksgiving going to cut down a Christmas tree with the Christmas music blaring and then decorating the tree and the whole house. We've gotten stuck four times tree hunting, that I can think of, so now that we have Avery we make sure to go to a location where the tree is easy to get. Makes for some great stories and we usually end up with an awesome tree. The Holidays are so fun.
