Moms are only human, right?

Last Saturday night, I was putting Hayley to bed. Fighting her tiredness, she asked me to talk about the movie, The Incredibles. Desperate for her to close her eyes and doze off, I started in on the movie...telling it from the beginning. The further in I got, the more tired I became. I started to close my eyes, still telling the story of the movie.

She didn't like my eyes closed and asked me to open them. A little further into the story, and I was busted again for telling the story with my eyes closed. I was becoming a little frustrated and finally said, "Hayley, I am getting really tired, and I want to close my eyes while I tell you about The Incredibles." (You can tell the story-telling was making the wrong person sleepy!)

H: "No! You have to keep your eyes open!"

Me: (In desperation) "Hayley, I'm tired! I want to close my eyes! I get sleepy just like everyone else - I'm a human being!"

H: "No you're not, you're mommy."

Isn't that the truth?

You crack me up because it's so true. For some reason Mom's are supposed to be everything to everyone and sometimes even we forgot we're only human. I agree with Amber that we don't get sick days either. Oh what we give up for our little rugrats! Thank goodness they're so cute right.
